We’ve all seen the ads: “Get the card it’s the law!” What this means in British Columbia and throughout Canada is that you must have a boat license in order to operate most water vessels. If you fail to get licensed and they catch you, the fines are substantial. The good news, however, is that licensing in British Columbia and throughout Canada is relatively easy to achieve. Set an appointment and take the test. If you pass, they give you a temporary license on the spot, and they mail the permanent license to your residence. If boaters upgrade from a craft to pleasure craft license, it is more expensive, but the card is good for life, so they never have to worry about renewing.

Boating License Course: 3hrs of Required Study Time

• The Transport Canada accredited exam at the end of the course
• A temporary Pleasure Craft Operator Card issued on-site
• A permanent Pleasure Craft Operator Card mailed within 3 weeks.

Canada Boating License: It’s the Law!
